From San Juan Pueblo, in Northern New Mexico, comes a sound rich with history and honor for the living Earth. San Juan has been an active ceremonial center for seven hundred years and Songs Of My People is a collection of music to accompany ceremonial dances. The solo and group songs are sung by men with deep, penetrating voices and the instrumentation consists mainly of double-sided drums and gourd rattles. The Garcia Brothers are also featured on Talking Spirits (MOTW126), which won a Library of Congress Award and has been a best seller for several years.
